Heather Christiansen

Heather began her term in Fall of 2019. She holds a Masters degree in Choral Conducting, as well as an undergraduate degree in Music Education (choral emphasis), both from Brigham Young University. She has had over 10 years experience teaching singing to those from elementary through university levels. One such experience was being a teacher in the Arts Bridge program, where Mrs. Christiansen taught children subjects such as social studies and science through the medium of music at Foxhollow Elementary. She has run her private piano and vocal studio in Utah Valley teaching over 200 students.

Heather firmly believes in the ability music has to bring people together and its power to enrich lives. She wishes the arts, and choral music in-particular, can be more easily reached by those in the community. Heather is honored to be working with the Mapleton Chorale, and is confident this is a venue that will bring choral music to the hearts of its listeners.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys decorating her house, planting gardens (in short, making things beautiful), and playing with her two adorable daughters and incredible husband, Matthew.

Emily Marshall

Assistant Conductor

Emily joined Mapleton Chorale as a singer in 2017 and was honored to accept the position of Assistant Conductor in 2022. Her love of music began at a very young age. Through her childhood and teenage years, she loved performing, composing, arranging, accompanying, and competing. Her deep love of choral music began at an early age as well, and was solidified during her studies at BYU, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Music. Since then, she has enjoyed her work as a private piano teacher, professional accompanist, and as the director of various church choirs for over 15 years. In addition to Mapleton Chorale, she has also sung most recently with Intermountain Choral Artists and Da Pacem. Music is one of her greatest joys, and she believes that it has the power to help us feel and express things that can’t be felt or expressed in words. It also connects people to each other and to God, and brings beauty into our lives. When she is not doing something musical, Emily enjoys playing sports (especially Pickleball), martial arts, reading, hiking, traveling, crocheting, Duolingo, playing board games, watching movies, and especially spending time with her 5 kids and her wonderfully supportive husband Jon.
